The client had recently purchased an abandoned Victorian building in the heart of Tyldesley's high street, a small, up-and-coming town on the outskirts of Manchester.

MOJO
was tasked with not only designing a bar on the ground two floors, but to create high end living on the top 2 floors. This accommodation had to be the best in the area so they came to us to add design flair and bring value to the scheme.

Using our experience in the residential sector we started by assessing how the space was used previously and how we could reuse some of the underutilised spaces.

We managed to create 8 apartments; a mix of one and two beds; each with a distinct open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. On the top floor of the building we used the vaulted ceilings to add a unique quality to the space and to bring in additional natural light.

Working with the client and the local council, we managed to transform not only the quality of the building and bring life back into the dark brick structure; but we managed to enhance the area's reputation through design and careful planning.

MOJO tried to retain as much of the original Victorian industrial elements as possible; from reusing floorboards, designing around existing metal frameworks, and bespoke masonry features.
